5-Year-Old from Russia Diagnosed with Brain Cancer, Undergoes Surgery in Korea and ECCT Therapy in Indonesia, Surpassing 10 Years

At 5 years old, Max from Russia was diagnosed with malignant brain cancer (astrocytoma) after already living with epilepsy from a brain injury he suffered as a baby. Following tumor removal surgery in South Korea, his doctor recommended chemotherapy, but his mother refused, fearing it would worsen his epilepsy. When the cancer recurred 9 months later, she brought Max to Indonesia to begin ECCT therapy in December 2014.

Using a helmet-shaped ECCT device, Max underwent treatment in Bali while continuing epilepsy therapy. MRI scans after 8 months showed the recurrent tumor had completely disappeared. He continued using ECCT for 5 years as a preventive measure, with regular CT scans confirming no recurrence. His therapy program was later adjusted to support nerve function related to epilepsy.

Now, 10 years later, Max lives healthily in Turkey with his mother—free from cancer, active, and able to enjoy a normal childhood once thought impossible.
