Given the limitations of conventional therapy, research has increasingly focused on electric field exposure methods, such as Tumor-Treating Fields (TTF) and Electro Capacitive Cancer Treatment (ECCT), as promising alternatives. TTF, which disrupts cancer cell mitosis using low-intensity alternating currents, is already FDA-approved for glioblastoma management. This in vivo study investigated the therapeutic potential of ECCT\u2014calibrated by Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS) and utilizing an intermediate frequency of 100 textkHz at 30 or 50 peak-to-peak voltage (Vpp)\u2014on GBM-bearing rats, specifically examining the expression of p53 (a crucial cell cycle regulator) and TNF-\u03b1 (a cytokine linked to tumor growth).<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The results, assessed using Immunohistochemistry (IHC), showed that the Kruskal-Wallis test yielded no significant differences for p53 expression among the groups (p=0.551), although the ECCT is hypothesized to interfere with cell cycle regulation via mechanical stress. In contrast, the test indicated significant differences for TNF-\u03b1 expression (p=0.024). Post hoc analysis revealed significant reductions in TNF-\u03b1 expression when comparing the control group to all treatment groups following ECCT exposure at 30V and 50V for both 24 and 72 hours. Nevertheless, the study&#8217;s overall conclusion stated that it &#8220;did not observe any significant changes in TNF-\u03b1 and p53 expression when compared to the control group&#8221;.
